As its name indicates, water-based adhesive use water as their carrier fluid. The water suspends the adhesive particles, which reduces the viscosity of the adhesive, allowing for applications to be applied at varying levels of thickness.
When to use Water-Based Adhesives
If you are working with paper, a water-based adhesive will likely do the trick. Water-based adhesive is most often used for paper-to-paper applications, including labels, envelopes, and packaging, but is also a helpful tool when working with wood projects, fabric bonding, laminate bonding and construction projects.
These types of adhesives work best on these projects because all of these types of projects are high-tension surfaces, which are ideal for water-based adhesives. Water-based adhesives are also more environmentally sound, which is often a benefit when working with paper, fabric, wood, and construction projects.
Rainbow is proud and pleased to offer the following outstanding selection of Water Based adhesive to meet your adhesion needs.
WHITE WOOD GLUE
This excellent adhesive combines very fast grab with very good performance.
Short pressing time and fast drying are two of the main features which were considered as primordial in the
development of RAINBOW RD204. Its mechanical stability is excellent even when used in very
high speed spreaders. It has been used for many years in the Industry with best results; can be applied by
brush or spreader.
Yellow Premium Woodworker's Adhesive
Rainbow RS-205 is an Aliphatic Resin Emulsion adhesive that yields extremely high bond strengths. This product is the adhesive of choice when working with hardwoods or oily woods. The dried glue line of Rainbow RS-205 exhibits excellent sandability and accepts stains readily.
It may be used for laminating, overlaying flush doors, edge gluing and jointing. This adhesive may be used for a variety of materials such as, softwoods, particle board, hard boards, high pressure laminates, leather, cloth back plastics.
EMULSION ADHESIVE
Designed primarily as a fast setting emulsion adhesive to bond polyvinyl chloride (PVC) extrusions, sheets,
films and foams to a wide range of substrates. RD209 is also being used successfully to coat PVC and synthetic materials that are later applied by the iron-on or hot press method. Other suggested uses are as an adhesive for bonding to a wide range of porous and non-porous substrates such as woods, plastics, coated paper and leather for packaging, book binding, shoe manufacturing and textiles.
Heat Resistant Water Based Contact Adhesive Non Flammable
This quality adhesive is widely used for bonding decorative plastic laminates (Arborite, Durolam, Formica, etc.) to plywood, particle board and many other porous of non-porous surfaces in the fabrication of kitchen and bathroom counter tops, store fixtures, furniture, wall panels, etc. R-900 can also be used successfully to laminate most porous and non-porous materials such as sheet metal, plywood, drywall and particle board to polystyrene foam or honeycomb cores, etc., in the fabrication of interior non-structural sandwich type wall panels. Other suggested uses are bonding materials such as cork, leather, canvas, felt etc. to metal, wood, plastic and many other surfaces
Rainbow R-902 latex based adhesive displays very quick set properties for combining or coating various materials such as leather, natural and synthetic fabrics. R-902 exhibits excellent machinability and may be applied by brush, roller or spray equipment. the cured adhesive film is extremely flexible, while still maintaining a soft glue line. Product also has excellent water, heat and cold resistant qualities.
R-2006 is a 1-Part, water-based, immediate-tack, sprayable adhesive for the Foam Fabrication Industry, one part spray adhesive with immediate tack designed primarily to bond open cell polyurethane foams. R2006 allows for quick mating of surfaces after adhesive applications with excellent grab and hold. Foam tears are achieved within hours. Mated pieces can be repositioned and dried bond lines do not dimple. Additional substrates can include wood, carious plastics and selected metal. Other applications where the use of solvent based flammable and non flammable systems are a concern for health and or environmental reasons may also be suitable candidates for the use of this product.
RD2456 is a resin adhesive developed for flush door construction. This cross linkable adhesive was designed to give strong, permanent bonds on typical door components such as masonite, wood, MDF, corrugated cardboard, particleboard, mineral-based fire insulation etc. RD 2456 meets or exceeds the requirements as set out in the NWWDA I.S.1.6-87 for a Type I wood flush door adhesive. RD 24566 has been approved for use in the assembly of 20, 45, 60 and 90 minute fire doors, with or without plastic laminate faces
Medium pressure sensitive emulsion adhesive
RAINBOW RH4488 is a medium pressure sensitive emulsion adhesive. Dry films of RAINBOW RH4488 is clear, it has excellent water resistance and resist degradation by ultraviolet radiation, oxygen and ozone. RH-4488 is used in the lamination of various films and foils to cellulosic surfaces or polyurethane foam.
